Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest 2021 in NYC

Oct 15, 2021

With winter approaching, it’s time to break out the beer steins, strap on your lederhosen, and grill up your favorite German sausages for Oktoberfest. The celebration that began as a royal welcome in Munich in 1810 has since become an international festival of drinking, eating, and carousing, with local parties thrown in nearly every country in the world—and in many cities, with New York City no exception. Here at Modern Spaces, we’ve narrowed the many NYC-area Oktoberfest options down to our favorites, so throw on your finest dirndl and head out for an evening of Bavarian revelry.

Known for its cavernous beerhall setting as well as its range of authentic German food and drink, Radegast Hall & Biergarten in Williamsburg celebrates Oktoberfest for the entire month, complete with a special menu, giveaways, and live music. Best of all, Radegast welcomes guests of all ages while the sun is up, making it the perfect spot for feasting with the whole family. Take a seat at one of Radegast’s iconic long wooden beer hall tables and start with a rich appetizer of Bone Marrow or Steak Tartare before digging into a hearty Fall Vegetable Spaetzle or a succulent Veal Schnitzel, all with musical accompaniment by bands playing traditional Bavarian tunes. Meanwhile, servers will bring rounds of special German Festbiers in the traditional large glass beer mugs while dodging dancers. All told, New Yorkers looking for an authentic German Oktoberfest experience need look no further than Radegast Hall.

For something a little more chic-modern, New Yorkers should head to The Standard Biergarten in Chelsea on October 20 for local Sixpoint Brewery’s Oktoberfest takeover. Guests will enjoy the brewery’s famous hoppy beers along with Oktoberfest-themed games, giveaways, and contests, all set to lively beerhall tunes from the Oompah band. Best of all, bring some friends and order the special Oktoberfeist, a massive pork shank platter complete with sides and a 5L mini keg that should keep up to six guests full of food and cheer for an entire evening.

These are just two of the many locations hosting exciting Oktoberfest activities around the city this month. Here at Modern Spaces, we pride ourselves on knowing everything about New York City real estate, so whether you’re looking for the spiciest hot link in town, the hippest bar, or the perfect Long Island City condo, contact us, and we’ll point you in the right direction.
