Why did you become a real estate agent?
I bought my first apartment when I was 23. It was a fixer-upper condo unit in Queens that I had renovated. It appreciated nicely. I sold it and bought two other properties — this time in Manhattan. It was thrilling. I couldn’t wait for the next deal. I was in the financial industry for years before I dove into real estate full time. I wish I had started sooner. But upon contemplation, I realize that I was able to succeed in real estate because of all my past career choices, mistakes, and experiences. Now, I experience the thrill of seeing my clients purchase their first home or increase their real estate portfolio as investors.
What neighborhood do you specialize in? What makes that neighborhood a great place to live?
I specialize in LIC. I know the neighborhood — I’ve lived there for about 10 years. I raised my kids there and I’ve done a deal in almost every building. It has a “small town within a city” feel that you can’t replicate anywhere else. I love the views of the city, the lush green of the waterfront parks, and the proximity to Manhattan, East Queens, and Brooklyn.
What makes Modern Spaces unique as a brokerage, as far as culture, service, and approach to real estate?
Modern Spaces is unique, indeed. It’s very casual and friendly. We have a strong presence in the neighborhood and we are very involved in community events and partnerships. Modern Spaces is at the helm of Long Island City real estate.
If you were to give one piece of advice to someone looking to rent or buy an apartment, what would it be?
Do your research — knowledge is key. It can save you money where you didn’t expect it. Work with industry experts who will do their due diligence, advise you properly, and ultimately help you reach your real estate goal.
What is your favorite part of the job?
At the end of the day, I love to see my clients happy after a successful purchase or sale.
