While local politicians celebrated their victory in helping to cancel Amazon’s plans to move its HQ2 to Long Island City, self-described LIC ambassador Eric Benaim wants to make sure the news doesn’t send the wrong message about the city’s attitude toward business investment. Though the fallout is still settling, Long Island City’s fundamental strengths were what attracted the corporation to the neighborhood in the first place, and, even without the massive influx of workers and investment that Amazon would have brought, the market for LIC luxury apartments and condos in Astoria remains strong.
