Eric Benaim didn’t sleep the night that Amazon announced that it would be bringing half its new headquarters to Long Island City. The Modern Spaces CEO spent the night fielding calls from clients, friends, and colleagues who were excited by the news. Benaim, whose professional real estate company has specialized in the LIC condos market for a decade, told Bisnow, “luckily, Long Island City has been preparing for this moment.” Long Island City, with its bevy of high-end housing developments, proximity to local transport as well as LaGuardia, and access to New York City’s talent pool, was almost waiting for Amazon to land, and Benaim is excited to ride the wave of investments crashing over the burgeoning neighborhood.
